Nestlé Continues to Source Coffee Beans from Thai Farmers

Reaffirming Commitment to Advancing Sustainable Development of Thailand’s Coffee Industry

Nestlé (Thai) Ltd. has announced to continually purchase coffee beans from Thai farmers while strengthening their capabilities and supporting environmental restoration. Most recently, Nestlé signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to purchase Robusta coffee beans directly from Thai farmers for the 2026/2027 production season, alongside knowledge sharing of regenerative agriculture practices to enhance production quality and quantity. This initiative aims to boost farmers’ incomes, and elevate their overall quality of life, while strengthening their resilience to climate change and supporting biodiversity restoration in coffee plantations, ultimately building a stronger foundation for the sustainable growth of Thailand’s coffee industry.

Ms. Salinla Seehaphan, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director at Nestlé (Thai) Ltd., said, “At Nestlé, we believe that driving sustainability in the coffee supply chain begins with strengthening coffee farmers at the upstream level. The partnership we are continuing with Southern coffee growers this year goes beyond our decades-long commitment to direct, local sourcing. It represents a long-term collaboration designed to support farmers in developing their capabilities, elevating coffee quality, and adapting to climate challenges while restoring ecosystem and biodiversity through regenerative agriculture. We are confident this collaboration will create shared value for coffee farmers, local communities, and the Thai coffee industry.”

Mr. Thianchai Chookittiwiboon, Governor of Chumphon Province, added, “Chumphon province places great strategic importance on Robusta coffee as a key economic crop, and we are delighted to continue the partnership with Nestlé to support local coffee farmers. This ongoing collaboration effectively bridges essential knowledge, advanced technology, and market access with the agricultural sector, enabling coffee farmers to improve the quality and efficiency of their produce in line with market demands. This enables them to have more stable incomes and elevate their quality of life. Nestlé also serves as a vital catalyst in unlocking the potential of Chumphon coffee and enhancing its recognition.”

Apart from the MoU signing, Nestlé hosted a NESCAFÉ Farmer Day event to share advanced cultivation techniques and regenerative agriculture practices with over 300 farmers from various provinces across Southern Thailand. The event provided an opportunity to share experiences and strengthen the farmer network, marking an important step in building a strong foundation for the growth of Thailand’s coffee industry. By bringing together economic value creation, farmer capability building, and environmental stewardship, Nestlé aims to ensure a resilient and sustainable future for the Thai coffee supply chain.
