Washington Blueberries demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the Thailand market through a high-impact trade seminar in Bangkok, uniting importers, retailers, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and industry partners to explore opportunities for collaboration and category growth.
Hosted by the Washington Blueberry Commission, the seminar showcased the exceptional quality, culinary versatility, and strong export credentials of Washington Blueberries, with a particular focus on frozen and dried blueberry products and their wide-ranging applications across retail, foodservice, and manufacturing.
Thailand is one of Washington’s most promising markets in Southeast Asia, driven by robust consumer interest in premium fruit, health-conscious eating, and versatile ingredients suited to a wide range of food and beverage uses. The event served as a valuable platform to strengthen relationships with local partners and exchange strategic insights on market opportunities.
Thailand is a priority market for us, and the growing enthusiasm for Washington Blueberries across the country is a clear signal of the category’s potential here,” said Alan Schreiber, Executive Director of the Washington Blueberry Commission. “Being here in person allowed us to connect directly with our partners and accelerate the momentum Washington Blueberries has built in this market.”
The seminar also featured Bryan Sakuma of Sakuma Brothers Farms, who offered first-hand perspectives from the grower and exporter viewpoint. Sakuma Brothers Farms is a family-founded business with over 100 years of farming heritage. It produces premium-grade berries, including fresh blueberries and IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) blueberries — frozen individually to lock in freshness, flavour, and texture — ensuring superior quality year-round.
“Washington Blueberries are incredibly versatile, and demand is accelerating across formats—from fresh to frozen and dried,” said Bryan Sakuma, Grower and Exporter at Sakuma Brothers Farms. “It was a pleasure to be in Thailand and see the enthusiasm for the category firsthand.”
Guests were also treated to a live culinary demonstration featuring innovative, blueberry-inspired creations made with frozen and dried Washington Blueberries. The demonstration vividly illustrated how Washington Blueberries excel across a diverse range of applications from bakery and desserts to beverages and snacks. Beyond their culinary versatility, Washington Blueberries are valued for their outstanding nutritional profile, including naturally occurring vitamins and antioxidants.
Through strategic initiatives such as the Bangkok trade seminar, Washington Blueberries continues to deepen its partnerships across Thailand, driving long-term category growth and reinforcing its position as a premium blueberry of choice in the market.
