CHROMATIC: A Journey Through Neighborhood Color A photographic exploration of Bangkok’s old-town communities through color, culture, and everyday life

CHROMATIC: A Journey Through Neighborhood Color is a solo photography exhibition by Mick Soncharoen, presented in collaboration with TAY Songwat and WALKK: Bangkok Re-Birth. The exhibition explores life, culture, and identity across three historic districts of Bangkok; Songwat, Pak Khlong Talat, and Phahurat – through the lens of color as both a visual and emotional connector.

More than a visual element, color serves as a medium that links people, place, and identity. Through his work, Mick captures the rhythms of everyday life and the unique character of each neighborhood, reflecting the interplay between culture, commerce, and community.

“This project is a return to places I first documented more than 20 years ago,” says Mick Soncharoen. “Through photography, I wanted to explore how these neighborhoods have evolved, while still preserving their spirit and identity.”

Originally developed from his 2003 photo book Shopping on Foot, the project revisits these areas 23 years later, observing changes in both landscape and the people who continue to shape them.

The exhibition is part of WALKK: Bangkok Re-Birth, an initiative that invites audiences to rediscover stories shaped by time, transformation, and everyday life in Bangkok’s historic neighborhoods.

The exhibition will be held at TAY Songwat, Bangkok, from March 27 to May 31, 2026, and is open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

To complement the exhibition, TAY Songwat presents the Chromatic Collection Set, a limited-edition selection of beverages and snacks inspired by the exhibition’s color themes.
